Application for Master of Science (MSc) / Postgraduate Diploma (PgD) in Epidemiology and Biostatistics
Eligibility
- Non-Hong Kong residents should apply for the full-time MSc programme instead of part-time programmes due to visa issue.
- There will be no entry examinations but applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Bachelor’s honours degree (normally not lower than second-class lower division honours, or B grade);

English Language Proficiency Requirement (Any of those below is acceptable)
1. obtained a degree from a university in Hong Kong or taken a degree programme of which the medium of instruction was English;
2. achieved scores in the following English Language tests as indicated:
— TOEFL (normally not lower than 550 Paper-based; 213 computer-based; and 79 internet-based); or
— IELTS (Academic) (normally not lower than Band 6.5); or

Who Should Apply
- Those who need to conduct applied clinical and health research such as surveys, clinical trials, observational studies, and systematic reviews in order to address practical issues in health care
- Those who wish to read for a PhD in relevant fields in clincial medicine and public health
- Those who need to interpret and apply research findings for evidence-based patient care and health-related decision making
- Those who seek biostatistical proficiency for application to lab-based biomedical research or epidemiological research
The majority of students of our part-time programmes are clinicians (including clinical professors), public health professionals, researchers, physiotherapists, nurses, allied health workers, health managers, laboratory technicians, or professionals from the pharmaceutical field.

- or obtain application forms in person/by mail/by fax from the Course Administrator, Room 202, 2/F, School of Public Health, Prince of Wales Hospital, Sha Tin, New Territories, Hong Kong.
Completed application forms should be sent to the JC School of Public Health & Primary Care, Prince of Wales Hospital, Sha Tin, New Territories, Hong Kong by the end of May of a year. Applicants are encouraged to use the online application procedures to save time and postage.
